The Wombats touring Australia this November
Somebody call Customs... The Wombats are heading back to Australia again!
Strange as it seems that an animal could be an introduced species in its native country, everyone’s favourite furry friends The Wombats (from Liverpool, England) may indeed have to start filling out permanent migration papers as they line up yet another round of Down Under dates.
In addition to some already announced November shows which include a spot on Canberra’s anticipated Spilt Milk festival line-up, the boys will be appearing at massive venues in Perth, Melbourne, Brisbane and even making a sneaky trip across the ditch to Auckland for a special appearance at Powerstation.
Still basking in the warm afterglow of their sold out Australian run earlier this month and a watershed performance at Splendour in the Grass, the prolific three-piece return the love on this latest trip to our sunburnt country. Packing out the Amphitheatre on the final night of festivities, Splendour punters screamed along with hits old and new, and confirmed a long-held assumption that The Wombats are one of Australia’s favourite touring artists.
These days, the bag of tricks from which these loveable Liverpudlians can draw is as deep as the Indian Ocean: Let’s Dance To Joy Division, Jump Into The Fog, Moving To New York, Tokyo (Vampires and Wolves) and 1996 are all unforgettable indie rockets.
Tracks from newest album Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life fit snug as a short legged marsupial in a burrow next to these modern morsels as singles Lemon To A Knife Fight, Cheetah Tongue join the party to make every night with The Wombats one to remember.
