WOMAdelaide celebrates its 20th anniversary
2012 marks twenty years of Adelaide’s WOMADelaide Festival; 4 days of World Music, Arts, Dance and Workshops, spanning seven stages in Adelaide’s Botanic Park. Complimented with over 100 food, crafts and display stalls and a Kids Zone, it’s little wonder people from all over the world flock to Adelaide annually for the festival, few festivals in the world can manage to capture the magic WOMADelaide does consistently each and every year.
The 2012 festival is to be held from Friday 9 – Monday 12 March. The final announcement of 20 artists has just been released and as one would expect, it’s an eclectic plethora of goodness, sourced from all corners of the globe. The announcement is led by West African superstar Baaba Maal performing at WOMADelaide as an Australian exclusive and other one-off shows by the likes of alt-rock-folk-trio Dirty Three, the king of Latin salsoul, Joe Bataan performing with Australia’s I Like It Like That Orchestra and Neil Finn’s latest project, Pajama Club.

It should be noted that in some initial releases, Youssou N’Dour was also announced. This has since had to change due to Youssou N’Dour no longer being able to tour Australia in March because of his involvement in rescheduled elections held in Senegal.
