Violent Soho announce national Hungry Ghost tour
As the release of their highly anticipated third LP Hungry Ghost quickly approaches, it is with great excitement that today the four friends from Mansfield QLD (4122 forever) who make up Violent Soho announce their Australian headline album tour. The shows will take place this October and see the band play in QLD, NSW, VIC, SA and WA. To add to this excitement we’re pleased to let you know that Sydney’s Straight Arrows will also be joining the tour as main support!
Having exploded back on to the scene around August last year with the release of their much-loved single Tinderbox, which was then followed up by an equally well received single Neighbour Neighbour, the band headed out on a sold out headline tour and support tours with The Bronx and Cloud Nothings.
Amidst all of the previously mentioned, Violent Soho have refused to stop as they continued to work tirelessly and meticulously on the Hungry Ghost album for the last three years of their lives to get it to a place where they felt it was ready to record. This satisfaction came about in March when the group enlisted the help of Brisbane based produced Bryce Moorhead (Dick Nasty, The Quickening), who the band refer to as Brisbane’s very own Steve Albini, to begin tracking the album before shooting it off to John Agnello (Kurt Vile, Dinosaur Jr, Sonic Youth) to put the final mixing touches on the record. After all of this Violent Soho have surfaced with 11 brand new tracks which make up Hungry Ghost, a record that is drenched in the sweat of Brisbane and one that all who are involved with are incredibly proud of.
Fans were treated to the first taste of the forthcoming LP just over a month ago in the form of the single In The Aisle which quickly picked up praise from around the world and also proved to be a crowd favourite at the band’s main stage performance at Splendour in the Grass last month. With Hungry Ghost set for release on the 6th of September and the below run of headline shows, fans of Mansfield’s finest have plenty more to look forward to!
As mentioned, Sydney four piece Straight Arrows will be playing as main support on the whole tour and treating punters to their loud, raucous garage punk rock. Having released their critically acclaimed debut LP It’s Happening, Straight Arrows have shared stages with the likes of Thee Oh Sees, Eddy Current Suppression Ring and The Black Lips and will no doubt do a killer job of warming up the stage for the Hungry Ghost tour.
