Unwritten Law return to Australia, play Elva in full
San Diego melodic punk rock stalwarts Unwritten Law are returning to Australia for their Elva 15th anniversary tour this December.
Formed in Poway, California, Unwritten Law were a major part of the power pop-punk movement that swept through America in the early 90’s. With ferocious punk energy and rock solid quality song craft, Unwritten Law broke through a crowd of contemporaries to gouge out their own unique furrow on the still forming melodic punk rock landscape. It was this groove that drew fans across the globe to the band - no more so than in Australia, where they have fostered a long-lasting love affair through frequent successful tours. Returning again this December, following a memorable 2015 run, Unwritten Law will reaffirm this affinity with the local punk rock fraternity!
With Elva, the band moved away from their previously established punk-rock formula and towards a more accessible hard rock sound - finding success with the song Seein’ Red which reached #1 on US modern rock charts.
Elva hits the audience with all sorts of styles - formulating a winning combination of rhythm, gentle vocals, hard guitar and compelling lyrics. Don’t miss UL in all their glory this December, playing Elva in full.
Joining Unwritten Law on the tour will be Southern California punk/hardcore band Runaway Kids, and local boys Mixtape for the Drive.
Just as punk rock from the 80’s & 90’s inspired listeners to fight for a brighter tomorrow, Runaway Kids look to imbue that same sense of urgency within their listeners. Formed in the summer of 2014, the band immediately went to work with writing and recording their debut EP Better Days, which they recorded with producer Cameron Webb (Pennywise, Alkaline Trio, Sum 41). They received a very large co-sign in Pennywise’s Randy Bradbury, who lent his expertise by tracking bass on the entire EP.
Mixtape for the Drive is a pizza-loving pop-punk band hailing from Wollongong NSW who has had a successful run since its inception in 2014. The boys have landed tours alongside international heavyweights such as Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, Lagwagon, Hawthorne Heights, Flatliners and Mest. Their 2014 EP Stories was recorded at Electronic Sun studios in Sydney and was produced by Whak Taahi (Tonight Alive). This will be the second time that Mixtape has played with Unwritten Law in Australia, after joining them on their 2015 tour.
