Udays Tiger release Dead Attention EP, tour East Coast
Noise rock two-piece Udays Tiger launch their second EP Dead Attention June 14th. Just like their first release Sinners in 2011, the Queensland ex pats returned to Brisbane with the reputable Neil Coombe at the wheel once more. This time, they spent a week up on Mt Nebo, just outside Brisbane in the rainforest-based White Room Studio. The extra time taken with this record was made possible with a welcome boost from a successful crowdfunding campaign. Living and breathing the record from Monday to Friday, they knocked out seven tracks that stand as a solid document from a developing band. Neil Coombe has managed to pull a mix from this that compliments the band’s dynamic perfectly.
This is a record that isn’t afraid to be whatever it wants to be. It’s a rock record, but it’s dynamically and structurally fresh, with pop conventions buried at its core. ‘Dead Attention’ will come out through Thornbury Records and there will be a limited 10 inch vinyl pressing available, as well CDs and digital copies a plenty. It’ll be a record you’ll want to flip over and have another go at for sure!
The duo has been steadily toning their rock n roll physique since the turn of 2009/10. Shifting from Brisbane to Melbourne in 2011, they started from scratch. Since then, the band have been notching up live shows left right and centre, with a CV that includes a bunch of noteworthy national and international supports: Blood Red Shoes, Children Collide, DZ Deathrays, Violent Soho and the gobsmackingily underrated QLD punk rock veterans, Six Ft Hick!
Their first independently released EP Sinners, came out midway through 2011.
This was their first foray with Neil Coombe who recorded and co-produced the record. It took three massive days to record and mix the beast, resulting in 12 minutes and 12 seconds of no-nonsense rock. The record was released online, with handmade copies in sewn, bleached denim sleeves available at shows or on request.
Tour dates:
Fri 14th June - Melbourne, The Old Bar
Thu 27th June - Sydney, The Backroom
Fri 28th June - Sydney, World Bar
Fri 5th July - Brisbane, The Waiting Room
Fri 12th July - Adelaide, Cats
