The Levitators announce the release of new EP
Adelaide six-piece, The Levitators, announce the release of their six track EP entitled ECLECTICA. Doing it as only The Levitators can do, the release showcases hard funk, old school D&B, hip hop and reggae sounds, fused in the unique energetic party styles and delivered with rock ‘n roll attitude – in the one and only Levitators way.
After two years on the local circuit building a more than healthy ground swell, it was in 2007 when things really started to move for The Levitators. Firstly, the band was hand picked to play at The Big Day Out following their live successes locally, which included sold out shows across Adelaide. Later that year, triple j caught wind of their self-titled EP, specifically the track ‘Aqualung’, and Unearthed the band giving them a spot at Parklife 2007.
The band released their debut album PLAY IT LIKE THIS… in 2008 to another sold out home crowd in Adelaide, followed by shows in NSW and Victoria. The release garnered support from radio via the single ‘Dinner at Panchos’, which received national airplay on triple j nationally.
Since then, The Levitators have taken the stage alongside musical heavy weights from here and around the world such as Shapeshifter, Salmonella Dub, Sneaky Sound System and Grandmaster Flash. They have rocked and shocked audiences all over the country including crowds at the afore mentioned Parklife, Big Day Out, as well as Peats Ridge and The Adelaide Fringe where they opened the party in front of 10,000 punters!
Out now, their latest offering has started rumblings amongst those in the know, with the track ‘Sunshine In My Juice’ receiving airplay on triple j. Delivering their classic dance crossover combination of Electro, Funk, Hip Hop and Reggae with a trademark rock strut, this is one release that is sure to get the crowds moving!
The latest track, ‘Once Again’ is at radio now.
