Sydonia first single from new album, announce tour
Melbourne's Sydonia are releasing their first taste of album number three into the world and heading out on an Australian tour to celebrate. The acclaimed 4-piece, who have been praised by media and massive artists alike - Lamb of God's Randy Blythe to Slipknot's Corey Taylor are both fans - are sharing their new song Eyes of Sand ahead of hitting the road on one of their biggest Australian tours to date.
The band have been consulting with Shihad's Tom Larkin on the songwriting of the tracks for their third album, a follow-up to 2014's Reality Kicks and 2012's Given to Destroyers. Eyes of Sand has been produced by the band themselves, giving it a rougher, heavier, faster edge - this is the band at it's most frenetic and focused. The track was mixed by Sydonia drummer, Sean Bailey.
A new guitarist was added in late 2015 in Ant Connelly and it sees a harder, faster approach to songwriting - the as-yet-unnamed record seeing some of the band's heaviest songs to date being laid down, including Eyes of Sand. Bassist Adam Murray wants people to know they are getting back to their heavy roots. "This album is getting back to what we and our fans love. Harder, Faster, Heavier, Stronger. That's what Sydonia 2016 is about. Can't wait to smash these songs out for people on the road."
The band are pumped to be releasing new music again, with Dana Roskvist, vocalist for the band, saying "We are so thrilled to be getting new music to the world. Putting out new music and touring is what drives us, we love being out there in venues with people who have been coming to see us for years and also seeing new faces at the shows. This run is probably the most exciting we have done in a LONG time - and it's nice to tick off a headline show at The Corner."
Their previous album, Reality Kicks was chosen as one of Lochlan Watt (triple j The Racket)’s best of 2014, played solidly on triple j, Triple M, AndrewHaugRadio and more, did amazing numbers on their Australia-Wide tour and received critical praise at all turns. The four-piece, consisting of Dana Roskvist on Guitars and Vocals, Adam Murray on Bass and Vocals, Ant Connelly on Guitars and Sean Bailey on Drums, are now veterans of the Australian Music scene - but are consistently bringing fresh sounds to what defines 'heavy'.
Sydonia have released 2 full-length albums and a handful of EPs, toured Australia as a headliner as well as with Slipknot, Stone Sour, Lamb of God, Korn, Machine Head, Between the Buried and Me, Trivium, In Flames, Snot & Hed PE, Dead Letter Circus, Voyager, Caligula's Horse, Mammal and more, as well as touring the USA as main support to Stone Sour. An army of loyal fans throng to shows and you may even spot a relic of their classic t-shirt design in the crowd - an "I fucked the chick from Sydonia" design from the first album era.
