Refused is next Soundwave artist announced for 2016 festival
The drips continue... Today, Soundwave announced the Swedish hardcore punk band Refused as the fourth act to appear at the 2016 east coast festival. Refused will be joining a reformed Failure, Australia's Dead Letter Circus and Welsh metal titans Bullet For My Valentine for the three date festival next January.
Refused wasn’t just ruminating about the lasting impact of popular culture when it began its 1998 album The Shape Of Punk To Come with a lyric about classics never going out of style - it was also taking stock of its own turbulent existence, which met an ignominious end later that year in front of 50 kids at a basement show in a Virginia college town. In the ensuing years, the band cast a giant shadow over the world of underground rock, with the boundary-exploding Shape rising to all-time legendary status as it influenced a new generation of musical revolutionaries.
After nearly 14 years apart, Refused reunited in 2012 and embarked on a world tour. After another break, the band once again reformed and in 2015 they released their latest album Freedom.
Freedom is availlable now from JB HiFi or order their previous albums from iTunes.
