Soundwave adds to massive lineup with second announcement
As if it’s not big enough already, the good folks at Soundwave have announced their second announcement. Festival organizer and Twitter lover AJ Maddah promised that the “second announcement is a damn good festival by itself” and he wasn’t wrong.
Joining massive lineup of Metallica, Linkin Park, Blink 182, Garbage, Anthrax and more are:
Slayer, Cypress Hill, Bullet For My Valentine, Bring Me the Horizon, Billy Talent, Mindless Self Indulgence, The Amity Affliction, Sick Of It All, The Blackout, Fucked Up, Gallows , This Is Hell, Cerebral Ballzy, Polar Bear Club, The Early November, The Dear Hunter, Blood On the Dancefloor, Verses the World, Sylosis, Confession.
Of the second announcement, AJ also says “We had to pull 2 of the metal bands off the announcement til further notice...”, indicating he has to wait "Til they sort some things out... :( ". When queried as to whether one of the two is Baroness, who just survived a bus crash in England, AJ replied with "Yeah :( I'm sure they're going to be fine, but obviously I am not going to bother them right now..."
There were already rumours that the 2013 festival would become a Big Four show, with the initial announcement including both Metallica and Anthrax. AJ quickly responded with “this is not a big 4 gig”. Despite his June comment of “Slayer are highly unlikely”, the band are indeed now playing and make part three of the Four. Misdirection seems to have a big play in the 2013 lineup. When questioned on Metallica's inclusion earlier in the year, AJ answered with "Also Hendrix and Joplin." Will The Big Four actually happen? When quizzed recently on the chances of Megadeth performing, AJ responded with “pretty close to zero”. Can he be believed?
There is a third & final announcement. It will be released in early October. No other details available at this time.
Pre sale tickets have been snapped up in record numbers, with Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne all selling out of their allocation on the first day. Perth and Adelaide are expected to follow suit.
General public tickets go on sale on Thursday 23rd August from Soundwave and Oztix
