Skegss announce national tour
Skegss, the DIY, beer-drinking and self-producing maniacs from the surf coast who took out last year’s triple j Unearthed Splendour in the Grass competition, are stoked to drop a brand new video for their new track My Face, together with a national tour in support of their forthcoming EP, Everyone Is Good At Something. The Everyone Is Good At Something tour will travel around the country this August and September with supports from Dump Punts and Verge Collection.
Ask anyone: the best part of releasing new music is being able to play it live. The Skegss boys - Ben Ben Bograil (guitar/vocals), Toby Two String (bass) and Jonny Layback (drums) - are stoked to be taking My Face and their forthcoming Everyone Is Good At Something EP on the road for the very first time. Their 9-date tour will kick off in Adelaide, wrapping up with a hometown Byron Bay show capping things off on September 17. This is their first national tour since their summer 2015 sold out run and your only chance to see Skegss live until the summer.
As the first cut from their new EP, My Face comes in at just under 3 minutes and is pure, unadulterated summery rock n roll, with Pilerats noting that “even though we've just barely stepped into winter, this one will make you feel like it's 32 degrees outside”. Jangly guitars frame the track against fast-paced drums while singer Ben Ben Bograil sings about those life anxieties that we all feel but sometimes aren’t too willing to share, “this song is about feeling good and feeling bad - if yesterday sucked, make today not suck.” The themes explored on My Face continue throughout their EP as well, through their positive attitudes towards life and just keeping it real.
Skegss have proved to be one of Australia’s most exciting up and coming bands - signing to Dune Rats’ label Ratbag Records for the release of their debut EP 50 Pushups for A Dollar, which spawned the singles Fun and Eat It, the Byron Based three-piece a trail-blazed through a Summer of national tours with multiple sold out shows, festival slots on the likes of Mountain Sounds, Yours & Owls, Sounds of the Suburbs and Festival of the Sun and international tours in the United States, Canada, South America and the tropic corners of New Caledonia, plus a coveted spot on the annual BIGSOUND conference last year.
