Project Montreal debut album & launch shows
Project Montreal has just released their ambitious debut album Patterns. Written across three continents, with multiple Grammy award winners attached to the project, it’s an expansive release that flourishes through multiple genres and showcases lead man Ryan Wyatt’s remarkable musicianship. To celebrate the album’s release, Project Montreal are releasing new single Trigger which is a catchy ballad that flaunts some masterful orchestration.
“Trigger was the last song written and recorded on the record and is pretty fun and cheeky little track. We were actually coming to the end of the recording process as the song was written. It followed a similar pattern of a few tracks being written as a song on the guitar of piano. I like the idea of using your imagination to cultivate and visualise an idea before committing to pre production and laying it out in pro tools. I feel, if done too early you can stunt and inhibit the growth of a track.” - Ryan Wyatt
Patterns was written and recorded across three continents along with the likes of Grammy award winning arranger and pop music icon Van Dyke Parks, the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, Grammy award winning and legendary mastering engineer Bob Ludwig and produced by Mersey Beat musician and former member of Gerry and the Pacemakers', Jose Mclaughlin. This unprecedented approach to a debut recording came about after Wyatt graduated from Queensland Conservatorium of Music with a degree in Jazz guitar. Instead of continuing his studies he took a much different direction and set himself an even larger goal, challenging for even the most established musician: to perform as well as arrange, sequence, orchestrate, and co-produce a debut album, handling song writing, orchestrating/arranging, vocals and musical performance.
“It was a labour of love and I know it will be performed beautifully - built to astonish and endure!... I aim to make this an illumination far beyond anything I've attempted.” - Patternson Van Dyke Parks
Ryan's musical journey began at the age of 16 where it eventually led him to Brisbane and his passion for music flourished. Patterns is an original and eclectic blend of alternative pop music that draws on a wide range of influences ranging from David Bowie, Kanye West to Picasso and is an imaginative combination of acoustic, electronic and orchestral elements.
Sat 11th June - Sydney, The Oxford Arts Factory
Sat 2nd July - Brisbane, Teneriffe Festival
