Local heroes to rock Elizabeth Quay Chevron Gardens
Hedonistic electro-rock lords Northeast Party House have swaggered into the 2018 Perth Festival line-up by filling the final slot at Chevron Gardens. The souped-up sextet will make sure the good times roll on the Mainstage at Elizabeth Quay’s contemporary music hot spot on Sunday 18th Feb.
The Melbourne good-time crew will ensure a night of full-throttle, irresistible fun complete with pop hooks and exhilarating dance rock. Emerging princess of electro-pop, Wafia expands the bill and emerging techno golden boy Willaris. K, takes the beats deep into the summer night.
Igniting the ticketed Mainstage and free Gardens Stage with electrifying acts from across the globe and right here at home, Chevron Gardens is the place to dance, swoon, tremble and holler over 24 nights of the Festival.
After last summer’s success, the Gardens Stage returns packed full of live and local musical delights every night for free. Perth’s jazz/ hip hop masters Koi Child DJs kick off the Festival Opening night fun on 9th February. They set the mood for a night of Mainstage magnificence from Electric Fields, Skinnyfish Sound System and Kardajala Kirridarra.
As Valentines Day turns towards a love-struck evening to the backdrop of city lights, Carla Geneve’s robust vocals and deft songwriting will set the stage for Abbe May’s Clam Jam on 14th February, while busking duo turned 8-piece pop powerhouse The Brow will start the party for Shigeto and Too Many Zooz on 21st February. Soukouss Internationale will bring their high-energy African beats to the Gardens before contemporary music kween Jojo Abot and Stay Jay hit the Mainstage on March 3.
On Happy Mondays, the M.O.V.E Foundation for Musical Health & Well-being promote better living through free body movement and the spiritual power of music. And get your jazz fix every Tuesday on the Gardens Stage, where WAYJO & Friends will present a selection of Perth’s finest rising stars of the jazz world.
Homegrown talent will also join the big names on the Mainstage. Elli Schoen’s exquisite melodies and thoughtful lyrics set the scene for Ben Folds, while local legends Boom Bap Pow! galvanise the prowess of rock ‘n’ roll revivalists Kitty, Daisy and Lewis on 16th February; and Ziggy Ramo’s razor-sharp rap warms the crowd for Melbourne merry-makers The Avalanches on 25th February.
Add to this a selection of some of Perth’s slickest maestros on the wheels of steel including DJ Chicken Wing, Charlie Bucket and Beryl Streep and there’s no denying the place to be for summer evening awesome is Chevron Gardens this Feb and March.
