Laneway 2016 dates and venues announced

Picture
In an era when the big festivals are slowly dying, its refreshing to see the smaller boutique festivals going from strength to strength.  In it’s 10 year history, the festival has expanded to all five major Australian capital cities and continues to travel to Auckland and Singapore and it’s popularity shows no sign of slowing down.

The twelfth edition of the Laneway Festival is coming at you.  This January/February, the Laneway Festival will host a tonne of this year’s best artists on prime real estate in Singapore, Auckland, Adelaide, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Fremantle.  The Adelaide and Brisbane events will be 16+.

Laneway is not just about the music.  It’s about engaging with the local community - our favourite local bars, restaurants, designers and visual artists - in each territory to make sure every detail is covered.  We can’t wait to reveal more about these collaborations closer to the date.

The full festival line-up will be announced at 9AM Tuesday 22nd September 2015.

Sat 30th Jan - Singapore, the Meadow, Gardens By the Bay
The rolling green hills, warm sunshine and unbeatable backdrop of the Marina Bay Sands at Gardens By the Bay is the perfect setting for Singapore Laneway, the region’s best line-up of international and local talent.

Mon 1st Feb - Auckland, Silo Park
We are SUPER happy to be returning to our home at Silo Park. The area alongside Waitemata Harbour and the towering silos, with its ample space and grassy knolls, is an A-grade festival setting.

Fri 5th Feb - Adelaide, Harts Mill, Port Adelaide (16+)
In 2016, (R)Adelaide will kick off the Australian leg for the first time. Cool!  The impressive historic site features stages contained in and around the industrial space right by the stunning waterfront of the Port River, more shady areas and continued improvements to the site.

Sat 6th Feb - Brisbane, Showgrounds, Bowen Hills (16+)
The Brisbane event, near Fortitude Valley, is right in the middle of the action.  Last year’s move to the more spacious, grassy precinct of the Brisbane Showgrounds was a big success and we’re running through til midnight on Saturday for the second year running.  Party on.

Sun 7th Feb - Sydney, Sydney College Of the Arts (SCA)
We love our Sydney home at the SCA and Callan Park in Rozelle, with its age-old sandstone, natural amphitheatre and gorgeous parklands. It’s a veritable inner-city oasis, and we’re lucky to have it.

Sat 13th Feb - Melbourne, Footscray Community Arts Centre
This site been so good to us over the six years we have called it our Melbourne HQ.  The Maribyrnong River site has four stages, grass and shade, easy access, great sightlines and clear sound.

Sun 14th Feb - Fremantle, Esplanade Reserve and West End
As usual, the Laneway tour wraps up in style in Fremantle (on Valentine’s Day no less).  Freo’s West End and Esplanade Reserve, with its grassy parklands, Norfolk Pines and the Indian Ocean breeze (we won’t take credit for the Freo Doctor), is one of our best ideas yet.
