Everything You Need to Know about Harvest 2012
It's mere days now until Harvest Festival 2012 kicks off with the first of two festivals in Melbourne. Now is the time to be plotting our days accordingly, so without any further ado, here's what you need to know.
MAPS AND TIMETABLES:
It's generally a good idea to know who's playing and have a rough guide as to when and where, that's where Maps and Timetables come in handy. They ultimately help one weave a course across the wonderland that is Harvest Music & Arts. From Bootleg Alley, to the Windmill, across to the Great Lawn and in all the nooks and crannies, there are things to see everywhere! Follow the appropriate links and your time at Harvest will be much easier:

GETTING THERE AND AWAY:
MELBOURNE:
For those of you heading to one or both the Melbourne festival's, listen up cos this is all very important.
With no trains running to Werribee on the weekend (metro or V-Line) due to massive line upgrade works, it will be buses. Public Transport Victoria will be replacing the train service with a stopping all stations bus service. There is a local bus service (439) that stops at the Werribee train station and goes to the festival site.
Harvest is also offering a free, continuous Harvest Express Bus Service from FOOTSCRAY train station to the event and a return trip to Flinders Street Station that will be leaving continuously from 10.30am.
The Harvest Express Bus Service will take approximately 45 minutes from Footscray station direct to the festival site.
After 4.00pm the buses will keep on running but there may be a short wait OR you can catch the regular bus replacement service to Werribee station and a free shuttle bus will pick you up from the station.
A user pays chartered bus service will also be in operation from Melbourne and possibly country (subject to demand) areas direct to the festival site. Check it out here if this is an option that interests you.
Getting home: The Harvest Express Bus Service will operate from the site direct to Melbourne and will stop at the Night Rider bus stop in St Kilda Rd out front of the Arts Centre (walking distance from Flinders Street). Return buses will leave from 8.00pm and continue on until the folks are all on their way.
There will be buses running back to Melbourne before 8.00pm too but there may be a short wait.
A free shuttle bus will pick up and drop patrons back to Werribee Station to connect with the PTV bus or for locals wanting to get back to town.
Allow plenty of time for connections - approx 1 hour from Melbourne CBD to Harvest Festival site.
Car parking is available on site. Allow additional time if driving to access the car park and walk to the site and as always, when driving, consider carpooling!
SYDNEY:
For Sydney transport, Harvest patrons have the choice of bus or train. Yay!
The nearest Train Station is Parramatta Station. It is approximately a 10 minute walk to the site from the station. The best way to get to and from the festival is by train.
Bus services run from many locations around Sydney to the Parramatta area.
The best place to get and check up to date bus and train schedules and timetables and to ensure you have the latest information is from the 131 500 Transport Infoline website. May be a good idea to check this website to plan your journey and for latest information prior to travelling.
Limited car parking is available in the local Parramatta area, but really, bugger that.
BRISBANE:
Brisbane, you guys have it simple, just bounce into the city - walk or roll the choice is yours!
To get to the City Botanic Gardens you have the following options: Buses There are bus stops on Alice Street outside the City Botanic Gardens. Visit the TransLink website for bus timetables.
If you're catching the train to Central Station, exit out onto Ann Street and walk down to Edward Street (the end of Edward Street becomes Alice Street). Follow Alice Street to the City Botanic Gardens main entrance (opposite Albert Street). The Harvest Main entry will be located here.
