Dave Graney announces new album Fearful Wiggings
Dave Graney has been described as a "cryptic rock voyager". In other truth he is a storyteller, songwriter and singer with few peers in the Australian music scene.
Everything Was Legendary With Robert is the first single from Dave’s new art pop solo album, Fearful Wiggings out on the 2nd of May. Featuring wild pop dynamics, the voice right out front like a 60s Country star should and massed, reverbed harmonies. Everything Was Legendary With Robert.
Who is Robert? Which Robert? Was he legendary or did he just make it so? Is that the same thing?
“it was good-when he talked to you- he really talked to you – he was always ON – In the moment!”
An elusive Pimpernel/Withnail type figure.
“his riveting self-consciousness drew you in/ a crowd gathered to see what he was lookin’ at/ talkin’ about’/ everything was legendary with Robert…”
The last few years have seen Graney and his band the mistLY blowing the roof off of small clubs with the jaw dropping electric guitar pop jams. Fearful Wiggings is a new scene. A little folky, a little jazz in the chordings. A lot of countrypolitan in the vocal register and level in the mix. Drama, of course, and grooves. A very personal record.
Dave collaborated with Clare Moore, UK folk guitar master Nick Harper and Lisa Gerard (Dead Can Dance) on the recording. Each song in a world and time of it’s own. “A best of from the future” says Graney.
“Graney remains a sonic explorer, boldly going where no other Australian artist dares..” - Jeff Jenkins, Stack “Graney now more comfortably resembles a road-seasoned jazzman, exuding the philosophical gravitas and dark humour of hard-won wisdom” - Mess And Noise
Fearful Wiggings is released on the 2nd of May with a celebration show at The Workers Club in Fitzroy that evening. A national Australian tour will follow.
