Falls Festival heading to Perth
The Falls Music & Arts Festival is coming to Western Australia! A truly surprising event will be staged over the weekend of Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th January 2017, including the very best local, national and international artists, creative food, performance art, boutique drinks, décor, makers, artisans, community involvement and so much more.
Breaking the traditional Falls Festival format, Falls Downtown will flood the streets and forgotten buildings of Fremantle, awakening spaces which have been lost in time. Creating a completely new festival experience over two days in January.
Everything you know and love about Falls will be transported west-side to dark and inventive spaces, ready to be discovered in a new light...
See your favourite headliners on the Main Stage, situated under the open night sky of the town square. There will be plenty of areas to relax during the day; with bars and seating under the cool shade of the large historic trees and palms which are scattered throughout the grounds.
Reimagining and bringing back to life the old abandoned Myer building with its frozen glamour, spread across multiple levels and alcoves. Get ready for bunkered basement danceterias, interactive art installations, unexpected performance areas, makers markets, strictly limited rooftop glamping and heaps of surprises in-store.
A ballroom blitz in the old-world Town Hall Atrium! Bursting with classic 19th century over-the-top grandeur with an elaborately adorned, velvet draped stage. The scuffed wooden floorboards have punched many dance cards over their time and are ready to see some more action.
The crowds can mass to the St John’s Anglican Church, a charming old stone walled building with intricate vaulted ceilings, vivid stain glass windows and wooden pews for heavenly times.
The site is a short walk from the Fremantle train station and a stroll away from the beach front, surrounding markets, pubs, cafes and shops. More details will be released soon, for now, mark the weekend of Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th January in your calendars!
Make sure you follow Falls on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram for regular updates. The team are busy working on the 2016/17 line-up and look forward to sharing details of the year ahead with you all very soon.
This summer, West Australians finally get a chance to be a part of the legendary Falls experience, with Falls Downtown!
