The Dresden Dolls return to Australia
Amanda (Fucking) Palmer’s been no stranger to Australian shores over the last few years. From playing shows with The Danger Ensemble back in 2009, to her now famous shows of 2010 in support of Amanda Palmer Goes Down Under, where playing impromptu sets announced via twitter led legions of fans to her whereabouts in an image we’d liken to that of the Pied Piper of Hamelin with an iPhone, Palmer is almost a local.
Regardless, before Palmer’s acclaimed first solo album, “Who Killed Amanda Palmer?” there was The Dresden Dolls. The duo of Palmer and Brian Viglione was self categorised as “Brechtian Punk Cabaret”, and whilst they only released two studio albums, an ep, a live album and even a couple of books, their legacy has stayed strong despite being on hiatus since 2008.
Well, that hiatus is now over and The Dresden Dolls are together again and on their way back to hit Australian shores with a string of dates this January.
Tickets are on sale Monday, November 21.
