The Dandy Warhols April/May 2024 Australian & New Zealand tour
Renowned for their epic live performances, both sonically and visually, The Dandy Warhols will return once again to Australia and New Zealand in April 2024!
Australia hosts one of bands largest and most devoted fan bases in the world, a relationship built upon since their inaugural tour back in 1998.
With over a quarter of a billion streams across 10 studio albums, six EPs, and 27 singles to date, The Dandy Warhols are one of the most fundamental and influential rock acts of the 21st century. Melding psych-rock, power pop, and synth pop with a satirical, pop-art sensibility, The Dandys are as unique as they are pioneering.
With a string of hits ingrained in pop culture including Not If You Were the Last Junkie on Earth, Bohemian Like You, We Used to Be Friends and more, they ruled the last years of the 90’s and were often cited as America’s answer to Brit Pop. And their witty critique of hipster culture is still as relevant as ever!
One of the hardest working bands on the live circuit, The Dandys have played virtually non stop throughout their career and have graced the stage at some of the world’s biggest festivals including Glastonbury (UK) Rock Am Ring (Germany) Mallorca (Spain), Levitation (France) and Meltdown Festival in the UK where they were personally selected by none other than David Bowie. They’ve also appeared at the biggest and best in Australia, including Scene & Heard, Wanderer, Splendour In the Grass and many more.
Throughout their career, The Dandy Warhols have navigated various musical styles from synth pop to psych-rock and beyond. In 2019 they released the 25th Anniversary album, Why You So Crazy? and in 2020, they released the ambitious Tafelmuzik Means More When You're Alone, a nearly four-hour instrumental exploration into the cosmos.
Their most recent single, The Summer of Hate, released on Friday the 13th October just gone, is 100% typical Dandys. That unmistakable groove, Courtney’s Lou Reed like croon and an effortless psychedelic vibe that just oozes cool. Brooklyn Vegan describe the song as “a homage to the sounds of The Damned, The MC5, and The Stooges”
The Summer of Hate is the first single from their forthcoming album, Rockmaker, which will be released just in time for their Australia dates!
Boasting the same line up since 1998, vocalist/guitarist Courtney Taylor-Taylor, keyboardist Zia McCabe, guitarist Peter Holmström and drummer Brent DeBoer, the Dandys are a band that have stood the test of time and remained true to their vision.
That vision will be on full display when they return to Australia next April.
