The Damned 2017 Australian/NZ tour
English psychedelic punk legends The Damned are heading down under in March, for what will be their colossal 40th anniversary tour, a rare experience that every punk fan will not want to miss. These revolutionary icons will be bringing a collection of renowned classics and fan favourites that are sure to leave fans begging for more, long after the curtains have closed.
Since their formation in 1976, The Damned began carving their own success when they played their first ever gig at the iconic 100 Club, in support of The Sex Pistols. Fast forward 40 years and the seminal punks have released an incredible ten studio albums, fifteen striking live albums, thirty-one compilations, two successful EP’s and thirty-one epic singles.
The Damned have gained worldwide recognition through mega hits like Love Song, Smash It Up, Eloise, Gigolo and Grimly Fiendish, propelling them to become one of the most influential punk groups to date. Now, these icons are celebrating four decades of music, madness and memories and are heading to Australian shores to continue their reign on the punk rock scene.
After a series of line-up changes and a temporary break-up, the band have continued to release masterful music, with their latest offering So, Who’s Paranoid? marking the groups first album after a huge seven year gap. The Damned fans can now rejoice as the gothic rockers are set to release their eleventh studio album, which is yet to be titled. One thing is for sure; this album will be packed with undoubtedly good musical decisions, powerful musicianship and true songcraft. Australian and NZ fans will be among the first to hear a taste of this new record which will most likely defy punk convention in the best way!
Celebrating 40 years of punk supremacy, the tour will be lead by original members Captain Sensible on guitar and the remarkable David Vanian on vocals, as well as long time members Monty Oxy Moron, Pinch and Stu West.
Don’t miss one of the greatest punk bands of our time.
