CherryFest 2012 welcomes weed
More details for CherryFest 2012 have been released. The show will take place on Sunday 25 November from 12noon with 15 acts across 2 stages in AC/DC Lane and Cherry Bar. And this unique rock n’ roll street party just got more rock, more party and more street with the addition of legendary Wollongong stoner-rockers Tumbleweed who join the compelling yet bizarre line-up put together by Cherry co-owner and booker James Young.
“Yes, CherryFest welcomes weed! The heavy guitars of Tumbleweed now join the prog-rock of The Mars Volta and At The Drive-In maestro guitarist Omar Rodriguez-Lopez (USA) & his group, the sludge-metal of Eyehategod (USA), the one-off reformation of stoners Dern Rutlidge, the charismatic-country of Henry Wagons, the trippy-psychedelia of King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard and much more, including I Exist (Canberra), My Left Boot, River of Snakes, Gruntbucket, King Parrot, Dead City Ruins and Frankenbok plus me as MC, no less.
“Sadly, Big D & the Kids Table have canceled their OZ tour (you just can’t trust Ska Punks you know), so Cherry is keen to make it up to Melbourne by adding Tumbleweed and something special: So, the First 500 ticket-purchasers to CherryFest (800-capacity) will each get a FREE CherryFest T-shirt (Gildan soft-style unisex double-sided T-shirt in various sizes with 2-colour front print) valued at $40.”
“And CherryFest, thanks to an avoided-deforestation lease through our friends at TreeCreds, is a carbon-neutral event. No-one leaves a carbon footprint on a Cherry stage! What’s more, we even offer FREE Bottled water (thanks to Another Bloody Water) all day at CherryFest.”
“Remember, CherryFest is an event designed to reclaim AC/DC Lane by the people, on the eve of the launch of a 12-storey 189-apartment residential complex at the foot of AC/DC Lane.
