Chasing Ghosts are back with new album
Five years is a long time between drinks and few know it better than Melbourne punk troubadour Chasing Ghosts. 2011 saw the release of Confessions From A Phone Booth, an unexpectedly intimate record from the hardcore music scene’s stalwart Jimmy Kyle and to follow it up in 2016 a new aggrandized Chasing Ghosts presents the long awaited sophomore I Am Jimmy Kyle, out on Monday 31st October, a fitting treat, through A Quiet Achiever Records.
To celebrate the album announcement and set the album standard ahead of release, Chasing Ghosts are subtly dropping the not so subtle second single, An Anthem For Bastards, Liars & Cheats, available through iTunes and Spotify.
It’s a fierce and relatable celebration of life’s uncertainties, a tale of a messy breakup crudely recalled through shouting chorus’ and punching guitars, the delicacy of 2011’s debut is enhanced with a gutsy full band, bravely waving the flag of Aussie Rock.
With pressure already at breaking point from Septembers release of Jane Doe, another stomping anthem featuring Jimmy’s good friend Marcel Gadicz (Dream On Dreamer), it is with little wonder that the looming release of I Am Jimmy Kyle is already hotly anticipated both within the circles of heavy music Jimmy first called home, and into the greater rock music community looking for their next champion.
Working closely alongside producer Andrew Neufeld (Comeback Kid) and helped along the way by the likes of Millie Tizzard and old touring buddy Doyle Perez (D At Sea), I Am Jimmy Kyle is a bold statement, a record nodding to the past but facing the future and all the while holding the bastion for Aussie Rock.
Expect soaring rock anthems, brooding ballads and the lyrical witticisms that solidify this troubadour as one of Aussie Rock’s as yet unsung heroes.
Jimmy will be taking the album on the road in October and November to test it on the proving grounds of the Australian live music circuit.
