The Beards announce anniversary tour and album
It's been a hell of a decade for Australia's favourite beard-themed propaganda rock band, and to celebrate, The Beards will be embarking on an anniversary tour of Australia this th Oct. The Ten Long Years, One Long Beard tour will take the band on a limited run of shows at selected venues in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia.
The tour will see the Adelaide four-piece return to Australian soil after embarking on their fifth international tour in just three years.
“When we started out, we didn't anticipate just how much global demand there would be for songs about beards.” Reflects frontman Johann Beardraven. “It's been really amazing to discover that so many other people around the world share our unwavering enthusiasm when it comes to beards.”
Since forming in 2005 with the intention of playing just one show, The Beards have gone on to release four albums of original songs about beards, play sold out shows throughout Europe, Australia and North America, receive two ARIA Award nominations, attract over five million views on their Youtube channel, and start a worldwide beard revolution.
“Beards have seen an overwhelming global resurgence over the last ten years,” explains bassist Nathaniel Beard. “I think it's fair to say that we've played an instrumental role in that - both literally and figuratively.”
To mark their ten year milestone and to coincide with the commencement of the tour, The Beards will be releasing a brand new single as well as a special anniversary double album, consisting of a 'best of' compilation, rarities, and a live album recorded at a packed show at Sydney's Metro Theatre earlier this year;
“We just really enjoy beards,” says Johann Beardraven.
The Ten Long Years, One Long Beard anniversary tour will give Aussie audiences the opportunity to see this beloved local export up close, performing some of their favourite tracks from their extensive, heavily beard-themed back catalogue.
